Rotted boards get cut out and replaced with new primed lumber before any paint goes on.
Then it's washing, drying, scraping to a sound edge, priming bare wood and two finish coats. On tall gables and long trim runs, the work is sequenced so each side is finished in the same conditions, which keeps the color and sheen even when you look at the house from the road.
Interiors and cabinets with a finish you can look at up close
Inside, larger custom homes mean high ceilings, open sight lines and lots of natural light, which shows every roller lap. I use washable mattes or eggshells on big walls and harder enamels on trim, doors and cabinets, then check everything with a light held at an angle before calling it done.
Cabinet doors come off, get labeled and are sprayed in a contained area, while boxes and frames are sprayed in place behind full masking. Hardware goes back where it came from, and we walk the kitchen together with the doors open.
